... Le Marais Art Gallery three hour walking tour
Bonjour Mes Amis,
The weather has been a little extreme by Paris standards and I was not adequately prepared nor did I use the best judgement for this Walking tour.
HINT ONE: January and Febuary in Paris can be very rainy and damp. A winter coat is needed and rain repellant is a must.
It began with my three hour Art Gallery tour in arrondismont 4 which is Le Marais. Our studio is very close to the point of origin so I thought a perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon and this was a Meet up so a good way to get to know others in a foreign city.
HINT TWO: When living in San Francisco I discovered Meet ups. Go on the web and google meet ups and if your area has groups you may see all the different events otherwise you can create your own meet up.If can be as simple as people interested going to a ballgame or concert or a fund raiser or hiking, all kinds of cool things. Pub crawls and music are very popular and just a way for people to join together if you are solo and want to experience something new. There are many groups that an individual or group organizes to fit a special interest you may have. They are normally to meet like- minded people with the same interests Anyone can organize these groups and can be a great way to meet others in a city or to make friends. There are 100's of different groups. I have met some really cool people and it is always a great learning experience. My meet up group had 29 people attending and at the end of the art gallery walk everyone would then go to a pub to socialize and get to know each other. Unfortunately, I had to skip the pub as we we were crossing over to the Left bank and I was already soaked and freezing. Probably the only wise decision I made that day as it was punishing physically as it was without more exposure to the elements that day.Thats why I have decided to share the galleries as this week's feature as was it worth the effort.
Let's begin our 3 hour walking Art Gallery tour. Put up your umbella, it is pouring rain. This does not stop Parisians from ANYTHING.Streets are bustling and the sidewalk cafes are still at capacity. There are approximately 29 others on our tour..
*The first Art Exposition is in the Townhouse of Sens- Now the Bibliotheque Forney
Exposition LOUPOT PEINTRE EN AFFICHE
( January 22- May 26 ) 1 Rue du Fiquier Paris 75004
Noteworthy and worth mentioning : The building was originally the Townhouse of Sens. It is a vestige of the medieval civil architecture. It was built in 1475, demolished and rebuilt in the 1500's. It is a medieval fortress with three watch towers. IN 1911 the City of Paris acquired it . It was classified a historic monument in 1912. It is now the Forney Library and hosts different expositions and cultural events through out the year. One last interesting fact of the original Townhouse of Sens. Michael of Notre Dame known as Nostredamus ( the French seer or prophet, astrologer and physican) lodged at the Townhouse in the 1500's. He had an attack of Gout as a result of his rich lifestyle. He was bed ridden for a time while living there. The story is said that the whole court would crowd around his bed anxious to hear his predictions. If only I would have received some of that prophetic wisdom while visiting would have spared my subsequent bed ridden time that was not from a rich lifestyle. Pouring rain and not being equiped for the elements is not common sense.
I will post and label the photos from CHARLES LOUPOT - you will most likely recognize several
*The second gallery of the walking tour was a Photographic Exposition

BAGHIR (January 26- March 11
PHOTO 12 Galerie 14 Rue des Jardins- Saint- Paul 75004
A series of Abstract Photographs
His photographs draw inspiration from a dream like series. Exploring traditional genres and highlighting such as lists strove to highlight the vision of varied processes such as a blur and sophisticated effects on the prints. In this Exposition BAGHIR creates image tones, shades of gray, and blurs to read of dream like visions. Some of the variations he abandons impressionism.
Alot of my photographs are unfortunately are tres mal.It was a small gallery and crowded. I will post please excuse how bad they came out.
*The third gallery was an Exposition dedicated to Francis Ledwidge
